Football season is here, and there’s no better way to support your team than by creating custom DIY football shirts using your Cricut or Silhouette machine. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just starting out, these free football SVGs are perfect for making your own game day gear. From football mom designs to custom player SVGs, there's something for everyone. With options available for both personal and commercial use, you can even create items like shirts, car decals, and more to sell at local markets, for your game day party, or online.

Materials and Tools Needed

Before diving into these DIY projects, make sure you have the following materials and tools:

Cutting Machine: Cricut Explore, Cricut Maker, or Silhouette Cameo
Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV): Choose your favorite colors and patterns. Be sure to select HTV suitable for fabrics, as we are not using sublimation.
Weeding Tools: Essential for removing excess vinyl from your cut designs.
Heat Press or Iron: For transferring your vinyl designs onto the shirts.
Blank Shirts: Preferably 100% cotton or cotton blend for the best HTV application.

How to Use the Free Football SVGs

1. Downloading the Files:

Each website is going to give you different directions for downloading their digital item. For my free football SVG files you can find the download instructions here for desktop or Chrome, there is a 3 to 4-minute video that will walk you step-by-step on how to download and how to download for iPhone or iPad.

2. Uploading to Cricut Design Space:

Open Cricut Design Space and click ‘Upload.’
Choose the SVG file from your computer.
Once uploaded, you can edit the colors, size, and even add text or other elements. Make sure to mirror your image if using HTV for shirts.

Uploading to Silhouette Studio:

Open Silhouette Studio and select ‘Open.’
Navigate to your SVG file. Silhouette Studio Designer Edition or above is required for SVGs.
You can customize the size and color to match your football team colors before cutting.

4. Cutting and Weeding:

After uploading your design, load the HTV onto your mat, shiny side down.
Adjust your cut settings based on your HTV type. You can find recommended settings usually on the HTV companies website or in with the material itself. If not I always suggest testing settings before cutting your full image.
Weed out the excess vinyl, leaving only your design on the carrier sheet.

5. Heat Press Settings:

Preheat your heat press or iron to 305°F (150°C) - but always check the setting given to you by the HTV brand. Press your shirt for 5 seconds to remove any moisture.
Place your design on the shirt, vinyl side down, and press firmly for 5-15 seconds depending on the type of heat transfer vinyl you are using.
Remove the carrier sheet - check for warm or cold press
