Materials and Tools needed for Paper Poinsettias
These only require a few tools and materials which makes for an easy craft - perfect for you do some Christmas crafts with the kids as well! You can also make this template out of felt or suede to create a different texture!
For my poinsettias I used:
- Cricut Maker but you can use any Cricut or other cutting machine that you have available!
- Card stock paper - I am using a textured 12x12 paper from Joanns
- Craft glue - I love Bearly Arts and you can save by using code DINOMAMA
You can also opt to use hot glue depending on the material you choose to use for the flowers. I used a glitter cardstock for my center dots as well to add some sparkle!
As for sizing in Cricut Design space, you can make these as big or as small as you want - just keep in mind the circles for the center may be too small to cut after a certain point.
Assembling The Paper Poinsettia Template
Making paper flowers becomes super easy once you get the hang of it, and I truly try to make my templates as easy as possible. If you are looking for more paper flowers try these beginner paper flowers or my free rose template!
Start with folding your petals and giving them a little bend but do not give them a full crease down the center. You want them to have a slight upward bend to look like a flower petal. I like to do this for all of my layers and then start the assembly. You can also do this for the leaves!
Next, you start with the biggest of the three layers at the bottom with the bended curling petals facing up then place the next layer on top but turn it so the petals are in the middle of each other. Do the same thing for the top center petals but these can be going in the same direction as the bottom petals.
Next, I did my glitter circles in the center and you can place these however! I just went around in a circle with a small amount of craft glue and placed them down.
Last, you can attach the leaves to the back of the flower with a tiny bit of craft glue and again have the curl facing up.
This paper poinsettia template went together in under 10 minutes as is perfect for DIY Christmas decor, DIY Christmas cards and more! Find even more FREE Christmas SVGs here and don't forget to subscribe to my newsletter for updates and new SVGs!
