How to Assemble Your 3D Aster Paper Flower
Once you’ve cut out your pieces using your cutting machine, assembling your 3D paper flower is a straightforward process. Follow these steps to bring your Aster SVG design to life:
Prepare Your Cut Pieces: After your cutting machine has finished, carefully remove the paper flower pieces from your cutting mat. You should have multiple petal layers and a flower center.
Shape the Petals: Using a bone tool or simply your fingers, gently curl the petals to give them a more realistic look. You can use the edge of a pencil or a bone folder to softly roll the edges of each petal outward. This step helps to create depth and dimension, which is key for a lifelike 3D effect.
Layer the Petals: Start by taking the largest petal layer and placing it as the base. Add a dab of glue to the center, then layer the next largest petals on top, rotating slightly to stagger the petals. Continue this process, working from two largest to smallest, until all petal layers are stacked. I did the large ones curled away from each other and then the smaller curled the same way.
Add the Flower Center: Roll the center from small to large. The longer pieces should be on the outside. Once all the petal layers are glued together, attach the flower center. Place a small amount of glue in the middle of the flower and press the center piece firmly into place. I used some eye make up and a Q-Tip for extra color.
Optional – Add Leaves: If your design includes leaves, now is the time to attach them. You can either glue the leaves flat to the back of your flower or leave them slightly curled for a more natural look. If you want to add a stem, you can curl the end of the floral wire and glue to the back of the aster. Attach the leaves along the stem with craft or hot glue.
