1. Keychains
Keychains are a simple yet thoughtful DIY gift. You can make them in various ways using vinyl, an engraving tool with your Cricut Maker, or even faux leather. This homemade Father’s Day gift is one of the easiest to create, especially if you use an engraving tool. Just create the SVG file, send it to your machine, and let it do all the work. It’s a quick and easy way to make a memorable gift.
Total Cost: $0.50 to $2
Materials and Tools:
- Key ring (engravable, acrylic, or hotel keychains)
- Engraving tool (check out my Temu haul; my engraving tool was $14)
- Vinyl and transfer tape
- Weeding tools
- Creative Fabrica Stick Figure Family
Instructions:
- Choose your keychain material and design your SVG file. If you need inspiration, consider simple shapes like hearts, stars, or Dad’s initials.
- Use your Cricut to cut the design on vinyl or engrave it directly onto the keychain material.
- If using vinyl, weed out the excess material and use transfer tape to apply the design to the keychain.
- Attach the keyring, and your custom keychain is ready to gift!
2. Etched Glass
Etched glass is a classy and personal gift that’s surprisingly easy to make. Using Armor Etch and a glass from the dollar store, you can create a beautiful personalized item in about 10 minutes (including some waiting time for the etching cream). You can etch something funny, a monogram, or a name to make Dad smile, this is a great gift no matter what you pick. You don’t have to limit yourself to a beer mug; you can use a wine glass, drinking glass, or even a mirror. Check out my tutorial on etching glass for more details.
Total Cost: $3-5
Materials and Tools:
- Glass (I got mine from the Dollar Tree)
- Armour Etch (a small bottle costs about $14 but is reusable)
