Cricut Wine Label Tutorial with Free Monogram Images
Creating a Cricut wine label is one of the easiest ways to make a personalized gift using your cutting machine. Whether you’re making a wedding gift, bridal shower present, or simply adding a custom touch to wine bottles, this project is beginner-friendly and surprisingly quick.
In this tutorial, Iโll show you exactly how to design and cut wine bottle labels using Cricut Design Space, a home printer, and printable vinyl sticker paper. Iโm also sharing free SVG monogram frames that you can use to create beautiful custom wine labels in just minutes.
Even though Iโm demonstrating this on a bottle of wine (which I know is ironic for a pregnant lady!), this same method works for tons of Cricut crafts like candle labels, jar stickers, product packaging, and even pantry labels.
Once you learn the basics of creating Cricut wine labels, you’ll be able to apply the same technique to countless labeling projects.
Supplies Needed for Cricut Wine Labels
To create your Cricut wine label, you only need a few simple materials.

Materials
- Cricut machine (Explore series, Maker series, Joy Xtra or Joy 2)
- Home inkjet printer – I love my Epson Ecotank 2400
- Printable sticker paper or printable vinyl sticker paper (my preference)
- Cricut StandardGrip mat
- โWhatever you plan on labeling
Optional Supplies
- Matte laminate sheets (for helping with waterproofing)
- Goo Gone (if removing the original label)
Why a Home Printer Is Important
One question I get constantly when people try making Cricut print then cut projects:
โCan I print my labels somewhere else and cut them on my Cricut machine?โ
Unfortunately, that usually doesnโt work well.
When you print from Cricut Design Space, the software adds registration marks that your Cricut machine reads during the print then cut process. If you print the design somewhere else and reopen the project later, the alignment often wonโt match.
If you plan on making wine bottle labels, printable stickers, or other custom print items, a home printer is extremely helpful.
I personally use an Epson EcoTank printer that I purchased for about $150 during a sale. I print constantly for Cricut crafts, and the ink lasts a long time, making it a worthwhile investment.
Step-by-Step: How to Make a Cricut Wine Label
Creating a Cricut wine label is much easier than it sounds. Hereโs the exact process I use.
Step 1: Measure the Original Wine Label
Start by measuring the size of the labels already on your bottle.
For my project, the original label measured:
- 3 inches wide
- 4.5 inches tall
Since I wanted to cover the original label instead of removing it, I created a slightly larger wine label template.

My label size:
- 3.2 inches wide
- 4.7 inches tall
Making your custom labels slightly larger ensures the old label is completely hidden.
You can remove the original label with a scraper and Goo Gone, but covering it is faster and works perfectly for gifts.
Step 2: Create the Wine Label Template in Cricut Design Space
Open Cricut Design Space and start with a blank canvas.
- Click Shapes
- Insert a rectangle
- Unlock the proportions
- Resize to your wine label template
This rectangle becomes the base for your Cricut label.
For most labels or stickers, I recommend using a white background because your printer isn’t going to print white, and it looks professional.
Step 3: Upload the Free Monogram SVG
For this project, I created three free SVG floral frames:
- Tulips
- Roses
- Peonies
These designs are included as both SVG and PNG files so they work perfectly with print then cut labels.

Upload the design into Cricut Design Space, then:
- Resize the design to fit your wine label template
- Select both the label and the design
- Click Align โ Center
Now your frame is perfectly centered for your Cricut wine label.
Step 4: Add Your Monogram
Next, personalize your custom wine labels with a monogram.
You can add:
- A single initial
- Two initials
- A wedding year
- โEstablished 2026โ
- Names for bridal showers or anniversaries
To add text:
- Click Text
- Choose a font
- Resize the letter to fit inside the floral frame
For elegant wine bottle labels, I recommend:
- A script font for the monogram
- A simple font for the year or text
Align everything again using Align โ Center Horizontally.
Step 5: Optional Pattern Background
If you want a decorative Cricut wine label, you can add a pattern behind the design.

To do this:
- Click on your backing shape.
- Change operation from basic cut to print then cut
- Change the Fill to Pattern
- Select the pattern you like
Pattern backgrounds can look beautiful for wine bottles used as wedding centerpieces or bridal gifts.
Step 6: Flatten the Design
Before cutting your wine bottle labels, you must flatten the design.

Select all elements and click Flatten.
Flattening converts everything into one print then cut label.
Without flattening, the Cricut machine will attempt to cut every element separately.
Step 7: Print Your Cricut Wine Label
Click Make It in Cricut Design Space.
Your labels will appear on the print preview screen.
I always recommend turning on Add Bleed. This helps prevent white edges (if using a color or pattern) if the cut alignment is slightly off.
Then:
- Click Send to Printer
- Turn on Use System Dialog
- Select High Quality Print Settings
For matte sticker paper, I use:
Premium Presentation Paper Matte
This creates beautiful custom labels for wine bottles.
Step 8: Cut the Labels with Your Cricut Machine
Place the printed sheet onto your cutting mat and load it into your Cricut machine.

Recommended settings:
- Washi Sheet (for sticker-style labels) or Vinyl
- Medium Cardstock if cutting completely through
The Cricut Maker and other machines will scan the sensor marks and cut perfectly around the wine bottle labels.
Step 9: Apply the Cricut Wine Label
Peel the label off the backing and apply it to your bottle of wine.

To avoid bubbles:
- Start from the center
- Smooth outward
- Press down firmly
Your Cricut wine label should fully cover the original label underneath.

If the old label shows through, simply layer two custom labels on top of each other.
Important Tip: Waterproofing Wine Bottle Labels
Standard sticker paper is not waterproof.
If your wine bottles go in the refrigerator, condensation can damage the label.
To prevent this, you can add a laminate sheet on top before cutting.
Cricut Print Then Cut Troubleshooting
Sometimes print then cut projects like a Cricut wine label run into small issues. Here are a few common fixes.
Cricut Wonโt Read the Sensor Lines
Glossy paper or laminate can cause reflection.
Fix: Rub a white crayon lightly over the sensor lines to dull the shine.
Label Didnโt Cut All the Way Through
Before unloading your mat, check the cut.
If it didnโt cut fully:
Simply press the play button again to run another pass.
Print Looks Low Resolution Warning
You may see a warning about image resolution in Cricut Design Space.
In most cases, this warning is overly sensitive and prints still look perfect.
In extreme cases you may need an image upscaler.
