For 4th of July Decorations I wanted to start big with a 3D version of Uncle Sam’s hat with a new free paper flower template for you to make! These centerpieces are sure to wow your 4th of July party guests and get them excited to see what other creative party decorations you can come up with!
Materials and Tools Needed
- Card Stock Paper – I used textured red, white, and blue and glitter card stock from Celebration Warehouse
- Tweezers – My favorites are from Hobby Captain
- Craft glue from Bearly Arts
- Hot glue and gun
- Flower Shapers – I ordered mine from Temu but these are so similar from Amazon.
Download the Free 3D SVG File
This free SVG download will be in my community vault under Summer SVG files – you can learn how to download here for desktop and here for iPad/iPhone. Please remember to sign up for my newsletter below to grab the password to the vault.
Plus: You can grab even more 4th of July SVG free download files here.
Cricut Design Space Set up
This SVG is similar to my others – you just download, upload, and go. I resized mine to max out a 12×12 piece of paper for the hat. On Cricut Design Space this means one piece cannot be bigger than 11.5×11.5 inches. Please remember if you are resizing, you need to resize the whole file and not just individual pieces.
You can change any colors here and add more flowers by duplicating if you would like. Per usual, I cut everything out using the medium cardstock setting on fast mode but this will depend on the sharpness of your blades and your materials.
Assembling your DIY 4th of July Decorations
Assembling the 3D Hat
You will fold in on all of the flaps and glue the side together keeping the side flap on the inside.
Next, add the top and bottom with craft glue or hot glue. The smaller circle goes on the top and the larger on the bottom (smaller side). \
I added my white panels next with hot glue. I placed them on the seam, across and then the other two in the middle.
Attach your blue wrap around piece as close and tight to the base as possible.
Make your 3D stars by folding on the perforation lines and then pinching slightly towards the center. Glue these onto the 3D hat on the blue wrap in any pattern you would like.
Assembling the Free Flower Template
Start by using your ball roller or the back of a teaspoon to round the petals.
Each flower will have 2 larger petals and 4 smaller petal layers. I started with the larger and glued them back to back so the rounded petals were opposite and then off centered them
Next, I off centered two of the smaller petal layers, one red and one white, these will both face the same way. Then attached this to the larger base. Then I repeated this for the top two layers. I also layered them one petal over another.
Finally, I rolled up the center. I am using glitter paper, so I roll this on the inside. I glue the end down and then the center to the center of the flower. You will fan this center out which will show the glitter!
Roll the “Sparklers”
The sparkler looking pieces, you will roll from the plain end to the star end and with the glitter (if you used it) on the outside.
Then you will attach these to the center of the top of the hat and then surround these with the assembled flowers!
You have then finished your DIY 4th of July Decorations!
