Materials and Tools Needed:
- Cricut or other cutting machine – I used my Cricut Maker for this card
- Card inserts or you can cut out a card template – I used a 4.25×5.5 blank card
- Craft Glue – I am using Bearly Arts and you can save with code DINOMAMA
- Cardstock Paper – I used 85 lb which you can shop here and save with code KELSS53 and photo paper
- Optional: Printer – I am using an Epson ET-2400 to do a partial print and cut (which my Cricut messed up again) but again you can just cut everything out in paper if you choose.
- Optional: Iron On Vinyl and Mini Press (I used this for the writing but you can also cut everything out in paper).
Cricut Design Space Set Up
Truly, you can upload this SVG File, size it to your card and cut but since we are doing the last minute version I want to show you a hybrid print and cut method I used. Start ungrouping your SVG file all the way down.
Then grab the black background layer, the lips, the eyes, the whites and polka dots, bandana and hair – you will flatten these to become a print and cut image.
Send it to the back to see how it will look and now you went from small pieces to only having to glue down the skin and the shirt. You can also change any colors before to however you want them to print!
Assembly – Again this is a QUICK DIY Mother’s Day Card
Make sure to keep all pieces together (there are some fingers that are tiny) and organize them well.
I started with Rosie’s shirt – the biggest piece first and then worked my way to the color and extra sleeve.
Then I moved onto the face, neck and arms. The face is an easy guide because you just need to line everything with what you print and cut.
I ironed on my MOM CAN DO IT quote but you can use paper – if you use iron on (don’t forget to mirror) and I like to use the lowest setting on my iron and press for about 15-20 seconds and allow to slightly cool.
Place the bar at the bottom of your blank card and the quote goes at the top. Then glue Rosie on top! Now you have a quick DIY Mother’s Day Card that mom will LOVE!
