Let’s create a 3D Memorial Day Craft with our Cricut (or whatever cutting machine you love!)

I wanted to create something that can be used as a centerpiece or a gift for someone who has served (or both) for this Memorial Day and I am so proud of this free SVG file. Follow along below to create your own!
Materials and Tools Needed:
- Cricut Machine or any other cutting machine that you love.
- Card stock paper – I used a mix of 80 lb card stock (save with code KELSS53) and 65 lb card stock in red, white, blue, brown, gold, grey and black.
- Craft glue – I am using Bearly Arts glue and you can save with code DINOMAMA
- Hot Glue and Gun
- Something to use as a weight – I am using magnets but you can use rocks, wood blocks, gems, whatever you have (it will be hidden so it doesn’t matter!!!)
Download the Free SVG File
This free SVG file will be found under my community SVG file library – it will be allllll the way at the end of the page so scroll down – so you will need the password which you can receive below when you sign up for my newsletter with your email address. Please give a few minutes to send the welcome letter! You can find download instructions for desktop here and for iPad/iPhone here. *Reminder: the download page may only show a partial view of the full SVG – upload into your design space to see the full image*
*Updated 5/15/2023 – I have added a male and female soldier version which can be found in the community SVG files!*
Cricut Design Space Set Up
This file is ready to go! It is sized to max out a 12×12 piece of paper and you can check this by looking at the gray rectangle it should be in between 11.495 and 11.5 inches in height!
For the gold plaque, you can add text with pen, HTV, vinyl, paper or even deboss it – I leave this up to you!
Assembling the 3D Memorial Day Craft
I am actually shocked how quickly this goes together. I started with my flag – I kept the red strips on my Cricut mat to do the first side so I knew they were lined up properly.
Then for the next side I used those lines as guides to place the strips down. The flags are pretty straight forward in terms of assembling!
For the box you will fold in on all the perforation lines and then glue the flaps to the inside of the box for a clean seamed look.
Assemble your plaque if you need to and then glue this to the front of your box – the hole for the flag pole should be on the right.
Next, I rolled my flag pole which does take some patience but I rolled and folded until I got it to the right size. It can be a little bigger than the hole provided. Don’t stress about that, you just definitely don’t want it to be smaller! And I used crafted glue on the seam as much as I could to keep it rolled.
To attach the flag I used hot glue and placed it into the seam to hold it.
For the soldier, you will insert the flaps on his feet into the slits provided and glue these down on the inside of the box.
Next you can insert your flag carefully, you want it to be tight but don’t rip the paper too much and add the weights (I used magnets and hot glue) to the bottom of the flag pole.
Finally, glue down your soldiers hand to the flag pole!
If you feel like you need more stability to the bottom you can glue a strip of paper (not provided in the SVG file) to the bottom of the weights and the sized of the base – on the inside. You can also add counterweights to the other side of the base.
I hope you enjoyed putting together this Memorial Day Craft! I truly enjoyed making this free SVG File for you!!!
