Step-by-Step Cricut Tutorial for Assembly
Even if youโre new to crafting, this step-by-step Cricut tutorial will walk you through the process of creating all three teacher appreciation gift card holders.
Step 1: Upload to Design Space

After youโve unzipped your digital product, open up Cricut Design Space (or your compatible software if you’re using Silhouette machines). Start a new project and upload the free template of your choice.
To make sure the card will fit most standard-sized gift cards, create a rectangle in Design Space measuring 2.125 x 3.375 inches. Use this as a guide to size the rest of your elements properly. You want the slit or pocket section on the design to be slightly larger than your rectangle so the card slides in easily.
Step 2: Cut the Pieces
Use 80 lb cardstock or heavier stock (like 100 lb) to create a great card base that holds its shape. For best results, a fine-point blade on your cutting machine will give you crisp edges. Textured scrapbook paper also works beautifully if you want extra detail!

You can cut all respective pieces at once or one design at a time, depending on how much paper you have or if youโre batch-making them as teacher gifts.
Step 3: Assemble the Holder
Using glue sticks or glue dots, start attaching your apple pieces, pencil parts, or book covers. Take your time to align the decorative layers neatly.

Important: When gluing the backing piece of your gift card holder, make sure to only glue around the edges, leaving the top open enough to slide the gift card in. This gives it a snug fit while still making it easy for the teacher to remove.

Packaging Ideas for Teacher Appreciation Gifts
Want to make your project look extra special? Here are a few easy DIY gift card holder presentation ideas:
- Slide the finished holder into a clear cellophane bag, add a mini bow, and tie with ribbon.
- Tape the card holder onto a small clipboard or notebook for a complete school-themed gift.
- Pair it with a pack of pens or sticky notes inside a mason jar or basket.
- Use decorative paper clips to attach a thank-you tag or short handwritten message to the top.

These ideas take just a few minutes but go a long way in showing how much you value your childโs real teacher and their hard work.

These cut files are designed to work with a variety of cutting machines, including:
- Cricut Joy
