Whether you are new to 3D paper crafting or a pro, this box is quick to set up in Cricut Design Space with an instant free SVG file download and quick to put together. This means if you’re creating some treat boxes for an entire classroom, you don’t need to stress about assembly time! So break out the orange paper and let’s start making some pumpkins.
Materials and Tools Needed
- A Cricut machine or similar – I am using my maker and a 12×12 mat to cut everything out
- 12 x 12 cardstock or adjust your sizing! I am using Bazzil 80 lb cardstock in two tones of orange and brown, but I always love to leave colors up to you.
- Craft glue – I am using Bearly Arts
- A bone tool – optional for folding
- Tweezers – optional for helping place small pieces

Cricut Design Space Set Up
Start by uploading the free pumpkin SVG file into Cricut Design Space and my suggestion is to resize as you need. Keep in mind when sizing that the final box will be slightly smaller inside than the size of the pumpkin. If you size your pumpkin at 5 inches your box will be around 4 inches. The side wall panels do not lay flush to the outline of the pumpkin SVG but rather create an oval inside. Remember to resize the entire SVG file for proper ratios!
Once you have it sized, you can ungroup. Then start changing all the lines on the side panels to score lines. If you do not have a scoring tool then you can hide or delete these. Make sure to attach the score lines back to the side panel piece it is laying on top of.
Next, change any colors – I have the bottom and top as slightly different oranges but when I cut I made them the same. I always like to leave colors up to you!
Finally, cut everything out and make as many copies as you need – I cut mine out using the medium cardstock setting and on fast mode but this will depend on your Cricut machine and your blade.
Assembly of the Pumpkin Box
Like I mentioned before I love a quick paper craft project and if you’re making a lot of these favor boxes, we don’t need to be taking 15 minutes per box… So, with that, these will be fast!
Step 1:
Start by folding on the side panels and connecting the two together on both ends. We are going to have to slide these into each other so I started with just my top (which is what I suggest doing, the shorter side panels first).
Step 2:
Add some glue to the tops of the panels we folded and attach the top pumpkin (this is slightly bigger) and you can flip this over and use your fingers to press down on them until they dry.
Step 3:
For the other side, make your side panels like we did before and then I slid the longer panels into the top this way I have the shape correct.
Step 4:
Glue the bottom pumpkin panel on, I started by placing it on and allowing it to dry just a bit then removed it from inside to keep the shape as much as I could. Then secured it down to the bottom pumpkin panel.
Step 5:
Glue on all your pieces to add the features of a pumpkin! The stem has two pieces for above and below (like a sandwich) but you can place them however you see fit.
Thats it! You have a pumpkin box! These are a great beginner Cricut paper crafting project and will be perfect for your Thanksgiving party!
