How to Cancel Your Cricut Subscription + What Happens After
Navigating the ins and outs of a Cricut Access subscription can be tricky, especially when it comes to making changes to your plan. Whether you’re looking to cut costs or simply no longer need the services provided, understanding how to cancel your Cricut subscription is crucial. This guide will walk you through the cancellation process and explain what happens after your Cricut Access plan ends.
Personally, I have never paid for Cricut Access (ok maybe one month by accident) but I have found ways to use the free version of Cricut Design Space to save myself the $100-120 a year! That is what I am here to help you with as well!

Understanding Your Cricut Access Subscription
Before diving into the cancellation process, itโs important to understand what your Cricut Access subscription entails. This paid Cricut Access membership grants you unlimited access to thousands of images, fonts, and designs in Cricut Design Space. The only exception here are some trademarked images (i.e Disney elements) that are not included in the paid Access library. For many Cricut users, this is a valuable resource that enhances their crafting experience with a Cricut machine.
Some of the paid features in design space include the background remover, create a sticker, and warp text. These make it easy to make your own designs all within Cricut Design Space. However, in terms of full design capabilities, Cricut is actually the most basic of software. Compared to something like Inkscape, Silhouette Studio, and Leonardo for Siser machines, Cricut has a long way to go.

I actually while researching this just found out there are two tiers! Standard and Premium! What??? Regular is $95 a year tr $9.99 a month and premium is $120 a year. The only difference being free shipping after $50 and 20% off all materials.
My Cricut Access Stance
Personally, I make my own SVG files with the free software called Inkscape which is similar to Adobe Illustrator. This has allowed me to grow in my crafting and in my blogging. It makes it possible for me to provide you with free SVG resources. You do not need to be an incredible designer to get started making your own SVG files. I know many people are scared to do it. It only takes a little bit of time and trial and error to get yourself going.
If you still don’t want to make your own SVG files, totally understandable but know there are so many free resources out there for you to craft with.
However, I do truly understand why a Cricut user would pay the $10 a month/$100 a year to have access. Time is money and also some people don’t want to become designers. I totally get that! But, if you are on the fence and want to learn other options, I am here to help!
Steps to Cancel Your Subscription
Cancelling your Cricut subscription involves several steps, which need to be followed carefully to ensure you are not billed further. Hereโs how to proceed:

- Log Into Your Account: Access your Cricut account via the Design Space app, mobile app, or through the Cricut website.
- Navigate the Main Menu: Go to ‘My Account’ and select ‘Subscriptions’ to find your current Cricut Access plan.
- Opt to Cancel: Select the option to cancel your subscription plan and follow the prompts to complete the process.
Do not stress, you can always re-subscribe. They do not pull out images from designs, they simply just make you pay individually which we will go over more below.
However, be aware that if you are on a free trial and decide to cancel, access to subscription features will cease immediately.
What Happens Post-Cancellation: The Loss of Premium Features
After you cancel your Cricut subscription, you will lose access to a variety of premium features that may significantly impact your crafting experience. Here are the key features that will no longer be available:
- Extensive Design Library: Cricut Access boasts over 100,000 non-licensed images and over 400 fonts, which will no longer be accessible. This library is continuously updated with new content, keeping your projects fresh and trendy.
- Discounts on Purchases: Subscribers enjoy 10% off all purchases on cricut.com, which can add up to considerable savings over time. You also will lose access to buying the monthly mystery box which includes the Cricut cuties, so if you are a collector I understand why you would stay!
- Free Shipping Loss: โtheir wording is so confusing, it says $10 coupon and free shipping every three months… I believe the free shipping is always though! This is only a bummer if you buy directly from them frequently.
- Certain Design Space Features: โYou will lose access to the automatic background remover, convert to layers, basic shapes (some), warp text, create a sticker, and monogram. I have alternatives for all of these below!
- Collections: You will go from having unlimited collections folders to 5. Each collection can hold 1000 designs!

Since you have cancelled, if you have used Cricut Access elements something will happen when you go to cut. It’s going to ask you to re-subscribe so you have an active subscription or it will ask you to pay for elements individually at an additional cost. This might seem like a total bummer but I promise you, there is so much content out there that is free for you to use! Just take those basic shapes, I have them all for free right here on my website.
When you first cancel, you might be overwhelmed because of something small you didn’t even realize was an access design element but there are always solutions!
Alternatives to Cricut Access

Personal Insight
As someone who has never subscribed to the Cricut Access standard plan, I found that designing my own projects right from the start was more cost-effective and fulfilling. This allowed me to tailor my crafts without the constraint of a monthly payment and explore creativity beyond the Cricut Design Space library. Plus I have the added benefit of saving myself $100 a year for more craft supplies.
With the use of AI as well making your own images has never been easier. Creative Fabrica studio allows you to make layered images with the click of a button! They even have an AI font generator.

At one point, Cricut tried to make it so that you had to pay for access to upload a certain number of design elements and this backfired tremendously, so don’t fear that either. I upload 100s of images a month to test out for this blog.
Conclusion
Deciding to cancel your Cricut subscription is a significant move that depends heavily on your usage and financial considerations. By following these easy steps and understanding what comes next, you can continue to enjoy crafting with your Cricut machine in a way that suits your needs and budget. Plus you don’t need to fear about losing designs or how to continue crafting without it! There are so many free resources out there for you that keep crafting fun and exciting!
Thank you so very much for this post! You are truly a lifesaver. I want to cancel my subscription because I would like to save money. I am new to crafting and I am overwhelmed with all of these different subscriptions. I am losing money before I even make money! I really appreciate your help with this.
I am so glad this helps!!
Hi, thanks for sharing ๐… The probem is, it doesn’t work for me. I cancelled in november 2024… But now in april they still took the money from my bank account. The cricut info says, that I don’t have access since december, I don’t have any subscription and that’s it. First they answered, that I have to cancel in Google Play. But there’s no subscription. I wrote to cricut, that I’m still paying, so I would like to have the access, because they didn’t cancel the paying. Now they don’t answer anymore. My bank says, I would have to cancel my credit card. It’s the only way. I hope, other ppl don’t have the same problem ๐
This is extremely frustrating and I am sorry to hear you are dealing with this. I would try to contact Google Play and see if they can help. Next, start contacting Cricut on social media and let them know they are making unauthorized charges. Personally, I know it’s a pain but I would cancel the card and reset anything that uses it. Best of luck!
Hi, Something else you didnโt mention is the unlimited folders we get with subscription. After that, we go back to 5 folders! Yikes! I need to reorganize my stuff. Of course, we still have access to all our stuff but I think I read somewhere that the top 5 folders will stay. That will bug me so I want to reorganize my folders to 5 before my subscription is up in a month!
Updating now! Thank you!!!!!
